Call for Abstracts: III Encuentro Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad (CTS) Perú 2026
About the Meeting
The III Encuentro CTS Perú 2026 is an international academic space dedicated to reflection and debate on the challenges of innovation and the complex relationships shaping science, technology, and society in Peru and Latin America. Participation is free for accepted panelists and includes an official certificate of participation.
Interested researchers, practitioners, and students are invited to submit a short abstract (up to 300 words) to one of our six thematic panels by August 1, 2026.

Thematic Panels
Panel 1: Power, Politics, and Democratic Innovation
A critical analysis of decision-making structures in science and technology in Peru, counterposing traditional market-competitiveness approaches with alternative frameworks for knowledge democratization and innovation that address structural inequalities.
Panel 2: Environmental Justice, Biodiversity, and Local Knowledge
An exploration of the tensions between scientific knowledge and local/indigenous expertise in biodiversity and environmental management in Peru, aiming to propose alternatives for climate change challenges and territorial conflicts.
Panel 3: Technologies of (In)security, Digital Surveillance, and Human Rights
A critical assessment of technological deployment in public security and data protection infrastructures in Peru, analyzing the risks of rights violations and threats to vulnerable populations.
Panel 4: Digital Divide, Education, and Technologies in the Classroom
An examination of gender, ethnic, and regional gaps in digital access and the Peruvian educational ecosystem, focusing on critical, decentralized technological deployment in classrooms.
Panel 5: Artificial Intelligence, Data Sovereignty, and Platforms in the Global South
An analysis of the socio-technical, ethical, and political impacts of AI deployment in the Global South, including the development of public/private platforms and data governance and sovereignty frameworks in Peru.
Panel 6: Health, Interculturality, and Medical Pluralism
A critical evaluation of barriers to healthcare access in contexts of exclusion and diversity in Peru, debating proposals to articulate Western medicine with traditional medicine and community participation to inform intercultural public policies.

Escuela de Posgrado PUCP: The Graduate School of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, which oversees advanced academic research, master's, and doctoral programs across multiple disciplines.
Rooted Futures Lab: A collaborative, US-based research initiative focusing on environmental justice, community-led data practices, and equity in technology.
