Universities take on an important role in the production of science and technology (S&T), as one of its objectives is the creation of ways to articulate S&T with society’s actors. This articulation may also occur through the means of educational activities via extensive actions, always tightly coupled to the research, allowing the dialogical process between the university and the communities, their demands, wisdom and knowledge. Through this dialogue, it’s possible to jointly carry on S&T works and projects with local development as their goal, studies on the technical and political implications of the arrangements in which popular technologies and knowledge are highly valued, and also those in which the hegemonic technoscience can be appropriated in order to to transform the ways in which products are socially constructed, consumed, and distributed. This panel follows these central ideas, its objective is to discuss how these relations and dialogues occur between academia and society, using extension activities as its mediator. This has occurred in great intensity throughout the two years the pandemic has unfolded, in which many projects cooperated with the life and survival efforts of underprivileged communities. We invite authors to participate in this dialogical discussion of solidary technoscience with the knowledge produced from different environments and moments, with potential to be repurposed and inserted in local and regional developments.
