Postdoc position, Linköping University, Governing the urban climate transition

Governing the urban climate transition
2 year postdoc, fulltime (optional 3 years)
Linköping University, Tema T – Technology and Social Change, Sweden
Application deadline: 15 September 2023

Another position in same project will be announced at KTH, Stockholm, in August!

Dear colleagues,

I am happy to announce a 2 year Postdoc position (with possibility to extend for another year) within sustainability transitions research and would be happy, if you could pass on this information to potentially interested candidates.

The postdoc research will deal with questions related to the transition of Swedish cities towards climate-neutrality. The position will be part of the research project "Beyond pilots: Accelerating energy system change for climate neutral cities"which investigates how demonstrations of system change in cities are designed and conceptualized, how their transformative potential can be assessed, and how they can cross-fertilize each other. Moreover, the postdoc will contribute to the Swedish strategic innovation programme "Viable Cities". A key challenge here will be to study how to map and monitor processes of transformative socio-technical change towards sustainability, and how to make them legible and governable.
Documented scientific skills in qualitative social science will be required. Experiences within sustainability transition studies; science, technology and innovation studies; urban planning, environmental governance or related subjects will be regarded as a particular merit.

The candidate will be employed at the Division of Technology and Social Change. Tema T is a nationally and internationally leading environment for research and education in how people create and use technology, and how technological change is interwoven with cultural patterns, everyday life, politics, ethics and economy. The position is part of the research group 'STRIPE - Socio-technical research of infrastructures, politics and the environment’.
