At the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies,  the Chair of Digital Cultures offers, subject to the availability of resources, a position as Research Associate / Postdoc in Artificial Intelligence, Health and Digital Culture (m/f/x) (subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L) starting at the earliest possible date. The position is to 24 months, with the option for extension depending on performance and subject to the availability of resources. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification.

Tasks: We are seeking scholars who work at the intersection of the social sciences and/or humanities and media studies. We are interested in historical and/or ethnographic scholarship on any combination of the following fields:

Fields of specialization might include but are not limited to: Histories of Science, Media Studies, Science Technology Studies, Communication Studies, Geography, Anthropology, Medical Ethics. 

We also welcome studies that are global in perspective. You will be primarily responsible for your own research as well as the organization of group publications and policy documents in coordination with the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine. You will also be expected to participate in grant writing and acquiring third party support.

The Research Group: You will be joining a dynamic interdisciplinary group, directed by Prof. Orit Halpern, that will be part of a research center investigating infrastructure, environment, and disruptive technologies. Please see: https://tu-dresden.de/gsw/slk/germanistik/digitalcultures . 

You will also be working with the Chair for Medical Device Regulatory Affairs (Prof. Stephen Gilbert), who will be heading the research on data security, data protection, data privacy, sharing consent and associated regulation. You will also be working with other researchers coming from Design, Media Studies, Political Science, and Science Technology Studies.

Requirements: university and PhD degree in a related field. Candidates with a publication record and experience with collaborative and interdisciplinary projects preferred. We are open to researchers experimenting with methods and mediums. We encourage applications from scholars working on artificial intelligence and digitization of medicine with focus on social equity, race, and sex. We encourage applications from under-represented groups. Applicants do not need to be citizens of the EU. Knowledge of German is appreciated but not required. The working language is English.
