Production Studies" International Conference - CFP / Mar-2024 / Newcastle UK

The TF/TK project team is delighted to announce our Production Studies International Conference 2024: Transforming Knowledges of Architecture, Design and Labour to be held at Newcastle University from 25-28 March 2024. [Link] Our plenary events include keynote speakers Sérgio Ferro, Christine Wall and the Brazilian housing technical aid advisory Usina CTAH as well as plenary workshops on Production Pedagogies and Translations Across Spaces. We will be launching the first of our translations of Sérgio Ferro’s work Architecture From Below: An anthology (MACK, 2024), our first 7 booklets in the Production Studies Series and four podcasts produced with theatre company Cap-a-Pie. We’ll also open a new exhibition at the Farrell Centre Building: An exhibition under construction.

Most exciting of all for us is opening the field of Production Studies to new contributions, debates and directions asking how knowledges and practices of architecture and design can transformed when labour, know-how and processes of material production are made central.

See https://www.tf-tk.com/psic2024 for the full call. Submissions in response to the CFP are due by 29 September 2023 [NOTE: Submissions are now accepted until Oct 6 due to UK Strike Action].  They can take 3 forms: paper proposals in response to the open call; workshops in response to the open call; papers in response to a number of thematic calls convened by the TF/TK research team.

Please do circulate this to anyone you think might be interested or get in touch with us at productionstudies2024@newcastle.ac.uk if you have any queries.
