Abstract:
The Labyrinth Project is a collaborative inquiry into nature in Los Angeles. Wetlands, lawns, rats, cats, coyotes, mountain lions interact with human affect, state power, indigenous politics, aesthetic pleasure, local governmental power and much more. Also, Satan.  Our podcast series launched in Winter 2022 with six episodes covering controversies around animals, ecology, and sustainability in Los Angeles. The approach to creating them was experimental and collaborative relying on the use of shared research materials collected as part of our ongoing anthropological research.  We present both the podcast series and the original conception for a "maze" of interconnected concepts and problems that constitute our ongoing work.  These podcasts were researched and produced by graduate students, undergraduates, and faculty.
